Lawsuits Extravaganza
Defense Attorney Joe Tacopina went on the attack last night promising counter lawsuits against Natalee Holloway's parents and all those who are calling his client "a murderer and a sexual predator without a stitch of evidence." Tacopina, who is representing the Van Der Sloots pro-bono, sternly declared "the days of slandering and just making statements against Joran Van Der Sloot publicly are over." Motion to dismiss the civil suit on grounds of 'forum non conveniens' was filed this morning. Click here for exclusive documents

Guilfoyle Vs Tacopina
The gloves came off last night as Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle and newly retained Van Der Sloot attorney Joe Tacopina squared off on Joran's latest interview. Guilfoyle believes Joran is still lying and that he has become more confident with his story as he retells the facts over and over again. Guilfoyle also feels Joran has begun laying the groundwork to blame the Kalpoe Brothers.

"I did not say I believe him"
What I said is that I am "inclined to believe him... that this is an ongoing investigation and a new fact could arise which would change all my views." I don't believe anyone until this is solved. No one should. I have my eyes wide open but if someone provides me information that is worthy of belief (consistent with known evidence), I am inclined to believe it but I leave the door wide open in case other evidence points at guilt. Joran Goes 'On the Record'
"We just got back from a very quick trip to Aruba. We got word late last week (Friday?) that Joran van der Sloot would sit down for an interview with us in Aruba. The one agreement: that we wouldn't edit it. That seemed fair to me. Frankly, I hate to have controversial interviews edited, since despite our best efforts, everyone — viewers and guests — yell "foul." An unedited interview allows me to simply say, "Here it is. You be the judge." Joran also did not want to do the interview in the United States, so we agreed on Aruba..." More at GretaWire

Greta "Inclined To Believe"
In an interview with Hannity & Colmes, Greta Van Sustren said she now feels "inclined to believe" in Joran Van Der Sloot following her exclusive sitdown with him in Aruba. Greta said she has a theory as to what might have happened to Natalee Holloway and believes this case might be solved. Greta's interview with Joran was the most-watched show on all of cable news for three nights in a row.

"Pathological, Sociopath"
Geraldo Rivera provided his analysis of the latest developments in the Natalee Holloway disappearance case. Prime suspect Joran Van Der Sloot has given a series of interviews proclaiming his total innocence. "The lie that he has fastened on," Rivera pronounced, "is that he took her on the beach but didn't have sex because he didn't have a condom, then left her on the there. It's at odds with the story he told earlier, but as he tells this story he becomes more confident and more glib. I believe there is a pathological aspect to this man." The Factor concurred that Van Der Sloot seems psychologically unbalanced. "I can't figure out why he wants do these interviews because he comes off as a sociopath. If he makes one slip-up he's done. It looks to me like he's a danger junkie - he likes this cat-and-mouse game, it's exciting to him."

Meet Joe Tacopina
Criminal defense attorney Joe Tacopina will represent Joran Van Der Sloot in his upcoming civil case. "Three countries have investigated this disappearance and three countries have not found one shred of evidence that points to Joran. This kid is a victim too. He is an 18-year-old kid and his life has basically been ruined." - Joe Tacopina

Joran On Larry King Live?
Hitting the airwaves once again, Joran Van Der Sloot appeared on an Aruban talk show this morning taking calls and answering burning questions from the people of Aruba. In the interview, Joran denied having a poolside summit with his father to concoct a story and said the infamous quote "No Body, No Case" was never uttered. Joran says he is no longer friends with the Kalpoe brothers. He stands by his claim that Satish picked him up from the beach and said he did not take part in the orchestration that led two minority security guards to be falsely imprisoned.

Joran argued that he himself is a victim in this case and admitted the interrogation tactics were brutal but did not succumb to the pressure. When asked about Natalee's fate, Joran said he believes she is not alive. Joran lashed out at what he thought were biased reporters - Nancy Grace and Greta Van Sustren. He talked about his interview with Greta and said he felt pressured by her to point the finger at the Kalpoe brothers. He also asked her not to edit the interview because he was unhappy with what ABC chose to air. Confirming what The Joran Van Der Sloot Blog had posted earlier, Joran said Larry King has asked him to appear on his show this week. Joran apologized to the people of Aruba for the pain he caused and said he leaves for Netherlands on Friday heading back to School. When asked about the lost shoes? He said whoever finds his Size 14 K-Swiss shoes to contact ALE. (MF)

Update: Following the advice of his legal counsel, Joran Van Der Sloot will not be doing Larry King Live or any other interviews at this time.

"The guy is certainly arrogant. But he appears also to have a drinking issue, a gambling issue. And he's the kind of guy who's stupid enough to slip up in his arrogance. And that's what you hope for. They're slick enough now -- they've lawyered up, they've had months to get their mess together. I think the only thing you can do is hope that they do walk around free, get drunk some day, start confessing, and make the kind of mistakes that stupid criminals make." - Wendy Murphy, Legal Analyst

Primetime Exclusive
Joran van der Sloot, the Dutch teen seen with American Natalee Holloway the night she disappeared from Aruba in May, said he planned to have sex with her when they left a bar together but because he didn't have a condom, they did not. Van der Sloot said he spent time on a beach with Holloway before leaving her there — the last time he saw her "she was sitting on the sand by the ocean." When van der Sloot heard that a girl had gone missing on the beach, he said he thought of Holloway. (ABC) Chris Cuomo's exclusive interview with Joran on ABC's Primetime Thursday night delivered the program's largest audience in nearly three years. The broadcast averaged 12.4 million total viewers. 'I Think I'd Hate Her'
After all the inconsistencies in his statements about Holloway's disappearance, van der Sloot told ABC News' "Primetime" he understood why it was difficult for the media or other people to believe him. Van der Sloot also said if he could speak to Holloway now, he wouldn't have anything nice to say. "If I were to see her … if she were to be found tomorrow, I think I'd hate her," he said. "If she really ran away from home, if she did something like that, I'd hate her." (Read more here)

Primetime Reactions...
"Always tell the truth. Just don't always be telling it. That philosophy is always on point when you're dealing with a defendant or in this case, a potential defendant. He's acting as if he's already been acquitted and he's far from it. Charges could be leveled on him at any time. " - Jonna Spilbor, Defense Attorney

"With all the lawyers that are representing this kid and the father with his legal background, Why did they agree to do this interview with Chris for? This can only add fuel to the fire. It gives Bo and John more ammunition. It gives the legal authorities in Aruba more ammunition. He seems to keep building this pile of lies and as we've seen hundreds of times, its the defendants own words that end up hanging him. Just look at Scott Peterson." - Yale Galanter, Defense Attorney

"He's a very hard person to believe. What concerns me is that he has no empathy at all for Natalee or her family. And he devalues her every single chance he gets. He's either describing her as loose, she's drunk, she wanted him. So I really think that he objectified her, that somehow in his head, whatever happened to her, he really feels is not his fault, that he shouldn't have to take responsibility and that there is a grandiosity." - Dr. Robi Ludwig, Psychotherapist

"I can't call him a psychopath, but I can say he is exhibiting psychopathic behaviors, one of arrogance...one of blaming the victim, and he`s always blaming Natalee." - Pat Brown, Criminal Profiler

"This kid's a fanatical liar!" - Bo Dietl, Celebrity Private Investigator

"Now, there's a principled guy. I won't have sex without a condom! Why is it that he refused to return to Aruba to speak to police about Natalee's disappearance, but he will gab for hours to the network TVs?" - Nancy Grace, CNN & Court TV

Nova TV Interviews Joran
Nova's correspondent Twan Huys in New York City has scored an exclusive interview with Joran Van Der Sloot and his parents. The interview aired on the Dutch network Saturday evening. Video below...

Update: Joran has dropped a bombshell saying Satish picked him up after he left Natalee on the beach. He also claims he was roughed up by custom officials at JFK. Translated transcript under comments section.

In a dramatic segment of the video documented by Nova, Anita Van Der Sloot can be heard expressing her fears for Joran's safety upon his arrival in New York.
She had no idea Joran had also been served.

"What we want him to do is return to Holland. This is exactly what our lawyer in Aruba, he has i think foreseen this, thats the reason he didn't want to travel with us because he didnt want to be responsible and we thought 'ah no big deal, it will not happen'. What is happening now is that somebody must have informed the family that we are here."

David Kock: Satish Went To Sleep
Latest bombshell dropped by Joran Van Der Sloot directly contradicts what Satish Kalpoe's attorney said in an interview with On The Record with Greta....

"There are Internet records that show the time that Deepak got home. Of course, we do not have any for Satish because he went home, as you know, and went to his bedroom, went to sleep in his bedroom. There's no computer. He wasn't either on the phone anymore. But his brother, Deepak, was. And for that, we already have the records. And that is also what we indicated during the hearing of the so-called gardener, when he stated that at a certain time, he saw the three there, whereas we had concrete proof that that was just not possible...Other than what my client stated that he heard or was told by Joran, is that he went home walking. But you know, we don't have any way to verify it."

The trip was an opportunity for a group of young people to celebrate the end of one phase of their lives and the beginning of another. But for one young woman on that ill-fated trip, paradise it was not. For that young woman, Natalee Holloway, the trip was a brutal contrast to a life full of promise and hope."

Greta: Stay Tuned
"Speaking of planes, I missed my first plane out of Boston on Monday. Missing that plane turned out was annoying at first, but it turned out to be a stroke of luck because on the flight I did board, I ran into someone who had some important information for me on the Natalee Holloway case. The person approached me and we talked for a few minutes. We could not talk long because the doors to the plane were closing. We talked later that night by phone and again yesterday by phone for about 45 minutes. The person is reluctant to come forward, so I am working on persuading him/her. I guess the headline is: Stay Tuned. Incidentally, I don't want to overstate this since I am not giving you lots of information. The person has some very important information to the news story, but this information will not solve it." - Greta Van Susteren

Search To Continue With Radar, Cadaver Dogs
Two Aruban investigators continue to interview friends of Natalee Holloway this week as teams in Aruba wait for cadaver dogs to arrive on loan from the FBI. Search teams in Aruba are using metal probes to look for Holloway's body near a lighthouse on the island's western edge. Even if that search turns up nothing, investigators hope to stir the sand enough so that cadaver dogs might be able to find the missing Mountain Brook teenager. Aruba's police chief has said new leads, possibly from a friend of suspect Joran Van Der Sloot, are spurring recent activity in Aruba and Alabama. (NBC)

MSNBC reported that investigators are asking Holloway's friends if they recognize new Aruban names, giving them descriptions of Carlos 'N' Charlie's patrons, and having them examine pictures of patrons in an attempt to develop new leads. (Click here to launch video)

Re-Interrogation: Not Happening
Robin Holloway reports that Karin Janssen stated that the suspects could not be re-interrogated, because the judge released them with prejudice. The term "prejudice" in legal language means that the defendant cannot be brought in for questioning in the future (or charge with a similar charge in the future). Joran van der Sloot's attorney, Antonio Carlo has confirmed this situation in the case. Antonio mentioned that yesterday he received an invitation from the prosecutor for Joran to come in, voluntarily, for questioning. He stated that he has not acted on the letter. (Source)

Advice Of 2005: No Body, No Case
Paul van der Sloot, a judge in training in Aruba, gave his 17-year-old son Joran van der Sloot and two Surinamese brothers legal advice the day after 18-year-old Natalee Holloway disappeared (AP) No truer words have ever been spoken.

Most people have convicted Joran in this case. Is he guilty? We really won't know until, if they charge, number one and if they put the evidence on and it shows beyond a reasonable doubt, which is the same burden that we have here in the states. " - Defense Attorney Michael Cardoza

"I don’t think lying is a crime. Lying is probably not ethical, but it is not a crime. If you interfere with a police investigation it is still not a crime.....

Sprinting From Hard Questions...

"oh, hello! There is the judge right there, at least his back end, as he is running - hello, marathon runner - sprinting away from hard questions. Why are you running? I`d like to ask him that myself " - Nancy Grace

"Either she's an excellent actress or she's in complete and total denial. And I might go with total denial because here is a 17-year-old male that is at Carlos n' Charlie's buying alcoholic drinks for their patrons. And here is a young 17-year-old male who's seated at a Texas hold'em table that I see on video footage myself. And here's a 17-year-old male seated at a poker table with his father in a tournament. I mean, you know -- and he's out until 3:00 a.m.? How many night as week can a 17-year-old male be out running the streets at 3:00 a.m. and the father say that he sneaked out." - Beth Holloway Twitty

"Nancy's remarks really hurt the people of Aruba. And you have to understand, we are a small community. All the resources that we have, have been allocated into this case, and then to be badgered like this, it just hurts people here." - Arlene Ellis-Schipper

Joran, who has been carrying a low profile since returning to Aruba for Christmas, told Diaro's Giovanni Lane that he enjoyed spending christmas with his family and believes the Aruban boycott is unjustified. Sources say Joran has been offered protection by the Government of Aruba to ensure his safety on the island. It is still unclear if Joran has kissed and made up with the Kalpoe Brothers, Deepak and Satish.

Goedemorgen Aruba...
Attention, Attention. This is a message for the female section of our overseas readers. Buy enough BrEezErs (ie. Bacardi Breezers) for 14 days and stay indoors. Close your doors and windows and turn off the radio and tv. If you unwisely choose to go outside, do NOT go to the Casino, do NOT go to Carlos and Charlie's, and do not approach the beach. GeenStijl Intel has information that Joran van der Sloot has come again to cheer up one happy island with his presence. It appears that criminals always return to the Scene of the Crime. So ladies. You have been warned. If you survive the two dark weeks of winter and "only" get raped, then you've had bad luck. Because these days, men get away with that too. (GeenStijl.nl)
