I'm Right, You're Wrong, Any Questions?

Quote Of The Week:

"I mean, the guy is certainly arrogant. We all know he lied. I don`t think that they`re ever going to crack this case. He`s not going to have a "Telltale Heart" moment because I don`t think the kid has a conscience." - Former Federal Prosecutor Wendy Murphy

"I mean, the guy is certainly arrogant. We all know he lied...."

Now is he arrogant because he lied ? Or is it because he lied that he is arrogant. ?

Former(!) Federal Prosecutor Wendy Murphy is certainly not "the sharpest knife in the drawer" :)

Where do these stories of Joran having 9 tot even 15 lawyers come from?
OJ syndrome??

The Van Der Sloots don't strike me as that rich and 1 good lawyer and some people from the lawyers office helping, would be quite enough.

And what about justice ....... ?
If Joran walks on sept 4th, there was just no evidence to hold him any longer.

Or would youall like to convict everyone for murder, who MAY have been the last person(s) to have seen a missing person ?

I have a few problems with that;

1.Since when is missing >>the same as>> murdered
(I think I read somewhere that in the USA 100,000 people go missing each year and only 4,000 are murdered)
So 96,000+ people are ones that were the last to see xyz and according to you those people should all be convicted ?

2. Joran and the 'carpool' brothers MAY not be the last persons to have seen Nat'lee...

3. Don't confuse the US system with the Dutch/Aruban
If there was/is any hard evidence Joran would have been charged or will be latest on Sept 4th. If there is no evidence other than some circumstantial, he is free to go.

4. I am guessing that the only reason they still have him in jail is his own mistake of first telling the investigators that they had dropped Nat'lee of at the HI.

And for all who criticize the Dutch/Aruban system, just remember that OJ would not have walked.... as we do not have a jury who decides but professionals who would have found OJ guilty on the DNA evidence alone (though there was more).

No I'm not Aruban but I was arrogant at 17 as well :-)
Actually still am..... consider Aruba a colony of The Netherlands !

What I get pissed off at, is Yankee doodles who want to be the police of the world (Clintons said this) and who have no regard for the laws and juridical systems of other countries. Who would want to see any person hang, proof not needed ! This is justice that 'we' left behind us several 100 years ago, but seems normal in the USA.

We, Aruba/The Netherlands are a sovereign country and all Yanks will just have to be patient and wait for the outcome of the investigation.
Mind you, I trust the investigation to be more fair than any USA conducted one.

For several reasons;
1. There can be no interference with documents, facts, witnesses etc untill someone is charged. As this info is restricted.
2. Only after a person is charged a court case will follow, that is open to public scrutiny, the press etc.
3. Before any charge is made a person can be held, as has hapened in Jorans case. Each time this is extended, a good reason must be given to the judge. (My opinion is that the changed story -1x- has been enough in this case and maybe the ris of Jorans possible flee to Holland?).

(again; under our system OJ would not have walked !).

If this case ever goes to trial, and Joran is found guilty he should get the punishment/treatment he deserves. Untill such time he is as innocent as the next person !

Yesterday I read this:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

MICHAEL CARDOZA, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, I'll tell you what, Chris, you put yourself in a difficult situation as a lawyer. A lot of people criticize you, take shots at you, but that is our job. That's what we do. and it does keep the system in balance, because God knows there are out there overzealous prosecutors. I did that job for 15 years. I've seen them out there. I'm on the other side now. I've seen them, but what you do is, you represent your client within the parameters of the law.

Now, keep in mind, it's really interesting what's going on down there in Aruba, because here in the United States, until charges are filed, the defense attorneys are aren't involved. And down in Aruba, what are they doing? They're walking into the court and they're complaining about not getting access to evidence.

Remember, here in the States, we, as defense attorneys, get no access to anything, as I say, until charges are filed. But yet, what do they get to do? They get to go down there, cross-examine people like the witness that they brought in the other day that saw, allegedly, van der Sloot at about 2:30 in the morning.

That's really different than our laws here. I'd love to have it here. I'd love to get at some of the prosecution witnesses before they file their cases. But what you do, you do it fairly and you do it within the parameters of the law.

PIXLEY: Of course here in the states, and Michael, you've experienced this all too -- many times, we have the opportunity, as defense counsel, to go out and talk to the press.

Now, there are those times there the court, when we're in full swing, -- and you're right, when there is a defendant and someone has been charged, that we're not able to talk. But in this case, you've got Joran van der Sloot's counsel. You've got counsel for the Kalpoes very mum, not willing to talk to the press.

If you are representing Joran van der Sloot, does the public's need to know get trumped by your desire to keep your client from talking at all or do you follow the old American model and get out there and talk?

CARDOZA: Well, I'll tell you what, the reason that defense attorneys get out there and talk -- remember we're different. We have the right to a jury trial here. So, what happens is, when attorneys get on the air, they're putting out to possible jurors what's going on in the case.

Because what's normally reported certainly, is pro-prosecution. So what defense attorneys try and do is balance that out. Down in Aruba, what do you have? You have court trials. You don't have jury trials -- the right to a jury trial. So, you really don't have that compelling need to get out there and talk to hopefully get the jurors and say, at least come in to the courthouse fair and balanced and don't believe everything you're reading about in the press.

I mean, this is a classic case. Most people have convicted Joran in this case. Is he guilty? We really won't know until, if they charge, number one and if they put the evidence on and it shows beyond a reasonable doubt, which is the same burden that we have here in the states.

So, until they put it on, we don't know what they have. Everybody's speculating about what the evidence is. Nobody knows. So, the needs are different.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very interesting !!!

As far as I can see the "gardner" will be a no-go from the start as internet & phone records will be seen as more reliable......

Well, I certainly think that he did it! I think the fact that he made up 20 different versions of where he left Natalee shows that he can not tell the ONE TRUE VERSION, bc it would convict him. So he had to make up OTHER stories, but each time they proved that he was lying.... he just made up another story.

So yes he did it! He is not only arrogant..... he is a murderer.

NOW, unless solid evidence is found... he will walk. That sucks, but I do not feel that you can convict him for lying... there must be more found.

"he is a murderer" well in that case so are you.. it's quite evident the deffinition of murderer in your eyes, is someone that has spent time with a person but there is no evidence of death or foul play. But I guess, Missing and Murdered are the same thing to un-educated, ignorant people who don't have the courage to identify their words of prosecution.

OH MIGHTY TAANNTTEEE!!!!

You stated "We, Aruba/The Netherlands are a sovereign country and all Yanks will just have to be patient and wait for the outcome of the investigation.
Mind you, I trust the investigation to be more fair than any USA conducted one."

When you are searching for evidence of a crime, TIME is the most important element! And if you remember correctly, WE WERE PATIENT during the first TEN DAYS while the Aruban LE did NOTHING to find the evidence needed to convict the most likely suspect, yes I am going to say it.. YOUR LOVE, Joran!!! Once they finally put down the donuts and left the comfort of the shade.... the evidence had most likely been all cleaned up and washed away! HHMMMMM, sounds pretty convienant to me! Be patient that is by far the dummest thing that I have heard you say yet!

Proud YANK!

You are wrong !
Joran and the carpool brothers were questioned and followed, and evidence gathered, before your "10 days".
Day 10 was when Joran & carpool bro's were arrested !
Already with the findings so far, that turns out to be just a changed story by Joran & Co.

The changed story sounds quite normal as I explained before. It would be stange if a 17 years old would have been able to oversee all the consequenses at the very outset....

As far as the KNOWN evidence shows Jaroan had ~30 minutes with Nat'lee....
And you tell me a random 17 year old had a 'perfect crime scenario' ready ? Just in case he ever gets 30 min with a little drunk slut ??

Nat'lee ran away before, a stepmother AND a mother from hell, what else can you expect ???

"The changed story sounds quite normal as I explained before. It would be stange if a 17 years old would have been able to oversee all the consequenses at the very outset...."

We know that you still think that he only changed his story ONCE, but that is false... he has done it over and over and over because if he told the truth, it would be a confession, so he keeps trying to make up other stuff.

"As far as the KNOWN evidence shows Jaroan had ~30 minutes with Nat'lee....
And you tell me a random 17 year old had a 'perfect crime scenario' ready ? Just in case he ever gets 30 min with a little drunk slut ??"

No one has EVER said that he had the crime all planned out, but during the time that he was alone with her... SOMETHING happened and he knows what it was! I don't know if he did it to her or if it was an accident... be he knows and he is not telling the truth! Also, you are such a freaking hipocrite... you blast everyone for attacking Joran and calling him a liar and a murderer, but you feel like it is okay to call Natalee a slut!? HHHMMMMMMMMM???

As for Natallee running away.... yeah right, she took off on her own free will, without any of her clothes or any of her things or any money, yeahp, that certainly makes sense!

That could be ONE OF the dummest things you have said so far!

See how dumb you are ? The only thruth is a confession to something that he has not done ? Again.... some more torture maybe ??

Just accept that the true story is already out and that Joran does not know what happened to her.
Get on with your silly miserable sorry lives and stay out of Aruba, so decent people can go there.

Oh my goodness! Please let me apologize for the ignorant comments made by those of my country such as Mad or Tante. There is no excuse for such behavior. Most of the Dutch feel quite the contrary. We do support Nat her family and America in this case. And yes, I do think that those who are guilty should be punished to the full extent of the law. I do hope that now that they’ve released Joran that he’ll slip up and say something that will cause him and whoever else is responsible to be convicted and punished for this haneous act. And like many of you I do believe that he and the Kalpoe brothers and Paul are all probably guilty. They just look too suspicious and have lied way too much. And the witness that said he saw them all at the dump together had no reason to lie or make up that story so I for one do believe him. I don’t know why Paul’s wife doesn’t divorce him, I see him out with a different woman every night that I see him. But please don’t judge all of us by the few stupid people on here that make such comments. I can see that you all have your share of that to. That Steve charachter’s post are really annoying, offensive, and silly. We all need to just ignore all these ignorant folks and maybe they’ll go somewhere else. I do enjoy reading everyone’s different views on this case and respect everyone’s right to express them, although people that make insulting and ignorant comments such as Mad or Steve are uncalled for. And what all Mad accused you Americans of doing, such as all of the luxury stuff and whatever else he has said, we are guilty of doing all the same things. Bottom line is that none of us are perfect so people like Mad should not be complaining and pointing fingers. Well, the best of luck to Natalee’s family. My hopes and prayer go out to you.
